At the IFA consumer electronics show in Berlin, Germany, Samsung made their long-awaited Android tablet official.

The Galaxy Tab sports a 7 inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1024 x 600. Inside, the Tab runs on a Cortex A8 1 GHz processor with 512 MB of RAM on Android 2.2. In terms of storage, the Tab has 16/32 GB of internal memory with the possibility of upgrading through microSD memory card for more storage space.

For a camera, the Galaxy Tab sports a 3-megapixel camera with Auto Focus and LED flash. On the front of the device, you will find a 1.3 megapixel camera for video chats with friends and family. (That has to hurt iPad owners a little…)

The Galaxy Tab sports the same type of radios we have come to love and expect. 802.11n Wi-Fi, 3G radios, and Bluetooth 3.0 support.

The Galaxy Tab will debut in Europe first, and Samsung says that the tablet will be coming to the US “later this year.”

No word here in terms of pricing yet.

Obviously, Samsung is trying to take some market share away from the iPad with their Galaxy Tab. Is this a Tablet device you would be interested in?

Seen above is the successor the T-Mobile G1, the G2. The G1 was the very first Android phone ever released, so it makes sense for the G1’s replacement to pack the same type of innovation as its little brother.

It looks like the G2 will be running stock Android 2.2 — without any HTC Sense.

Currently, the phone is rumored to pack a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, a 3.7-inch display, and carry a 5 megapixel camera. These type of specs would place the phone in the same range as the Droid 2, and the Epic 4G. Also, the G2 is confirmed to run at 4G speeds on T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network, which is expanding to new locations just about every day.

The G2 is turning out to be one of the most hyped Android smartphone launches of the year. And that’s saying a lot.

Engadget has obtained a photo of the G2 casually scrolling through Facebook in the wild. Doesn’t the phone look really solid in the hand? We think so! Check it out below:

Hey look, what do we have here, complete details about the next Android smartphone launching on Big Red. The Samsung Fascinate is the last phone in the Galaxy S Series to be released in the US. AFter the Samsung launches the Fascinate, they will have completed launching phones on every major carrier in the US. All of the Fascinate’s brothers and sisters are already being used by the masses all throughout America. As you can see from the graphic above, the Fascinate will launch on September 8th, and feature all the same internals as the Captivate, the Vibrant and the Epic 4G.

For Verizon, the Fascinate is interesting because of the current line of Droids already being sold in Verizon stores. The point is, Verizon already has a the strongest offering of Android devices out of any carrier, and it will be interesting to see exactly what type of consumers purchase the Fascinate.

Also shown in the graphic is the information about the pre-installed apps that Verizon is including in their smartphones these days. This includes: Blockbuster for streaming, Amazon Kindle app, and the newly announced Bing Map client for Verizon phones.

We know that you are already enjoying some Android Froyo sweetness on your original Droid. (If not, you can install manually here.) But Verizon just issued a statement confirming that another OTA update will be coming soon to add Adobe Flash Player to your phone.

When you installed Android 2.2, you might have wondered where exactly Adobe Flash Payer 10.1 was on your phone. Well it wasn’t included with the OTA. However, there was a .apk file floating around the web that enabled Flash on your Droid.

Verizon has officially announced that they will be pushing out the update to Droid owners in the upcoming week. Android 2.2 OTA updates are scheduled to end Aug 18th, so the Flash Player update will start shortly after that.

Get ready for Flash!

For the official Verizon memo, check it out here.

Today, it was announced that TweetDeck was releasing their Android app into beta testing via their website. Over a year ago, speculation started to form as to whether TweetDeck was in the process of developing an app for Android, and now we can see what the app will look like.

While the amount of Twitter apps on the Android market is very impressive, TweetDeck combines many social networking sites into a single app. TweetDeck will also let you update your many social statues straight from the app itself.

TweetDeck is especially useful because it not only supports Twitter, but Facebook, Buzz and Foursquare as well. iOS users have had the opportunity to use TweetDeck’s app for a while.

So if you are interested, head on over to TweetDeck’s website and join the beta fun. Just create an account, and TweetDeck will send you the .apk.

Chrome to Phone is definitely a feature that has been around, and was announced way back in May with Froyo, but today Chrome to Phone became an official Android app.

Chrome to Phone is essentially a plug-in for your Chrome browser that lets you send links instantly to your Android 2.2 phone. With certain websites, your Android phone will take you directly to the application, (Maps, YouTube) which can be incredibly useful because you don’t have to re-enter all the data into your phone.

Before the official app announcement of Chrome to Phone, Android users with Android 2.2 had to download the .APK and install to their phone via a .APK installer. With Google releasing the app, hopefully Chrome to Phone will become more mainstream with more users using the Plug-in.

Also worth noting that Google made their Chrome to Phone code open, which hopefully means Chrome to phone will find its way into other browsers. When asked about Chrome to Phone for other OSs, Google said that it is “looking in” to it. iOS was specifically asked about, but nothing has been submitted to Apple and it doesn’t feel like it is an overly urgent matter for Google to bring this technology to iOS. Chrome to Phone? Super helpful, fun, and easy to use.

Today, Google Mobile announced their latest app for Android, Voice Actions. Voice Actions lets you send text messages, send an email, find music on the web, and a lot more. Altogether, there are 12 voice actions for Android, plus the normal Google search.

The voice actions are pretty intuitive, and it doesn’t take long to learn all of simple voice commands for Android. The music search is very interesting because after searching for “find music by The Decemberists” Voice Actions brought up the option to create a new Pandora station (Assuming you have Pandora installed on your Android device).

The newest Google app will come pre-installed on the Droid 2, and will be available today for all Android 2.2 devices (Froyo) in the Android market.

After leaking all over the web for the last 2 months, the Droid 2 has finally been officially announced by the folks at Verizon Wireless and Motorola.

The Droid 2 features a redesigned keyboard with bigger keys and the newest Android OS 2.2 (FroYo). Verizon is also including a mobile hotspot feature, the same type of application found on the Droid X ($20 a month for 2 GB of Data). Another nifty feature of Android 2.2 is Adobe Flash Player 10.1 which will be pre-installed along with Swype on the phone.

The Droid 2 has been leaked so much that you probably already know the specs by now: a 3.7-inch WVGA 480 x 854 display, 5 megapixel camera, DLNA streaming, 8GB of onboard memory and a 8GB microSD card pre-installed in the phone.

So in terms of pricing, the Droid 2 will be $199 (after $100 mail in rebate) on contract and will be available for pre-sale tomorrow, and available for pick up on Thursday.

Does this look like a tempting upgrade for Verizon folks?

UPDATE:

Verizon and Motorola announced that they will be releasing a special edition R2-D2 edition in September:

R2-D2 DROID 2
In honor of the iconic Astromech Droid from the Star Wars™ Saga, Verizon Wireless will offer a limited-edition R2-D2 version of the DROID 2, available only online in September. The special version of the phone will feature exclusive Star Wars content and external hardware designed to look like the trusty Droid from the film saga. Visitors to the upcoming Star Wars Celebration V in Orlando, Fla., can see a preview of the limited edition phone and sign up to receive alerts when the phone is ready for sale.
